The Making

step 1

Drawing with gold

In the early days of Deguiret, each dial was wired in fine silver. Today, we shape our own 24-carat gold, drawn to the exact thickness and dimensions required for each cloisonné dial.

The wires are bent by hand using tweezers, micro-pliers, and precision needles, then placed one by one to trace the future composition.

A single dial can demand more than forty hours of meticulous work, as every curve must be perfectly aligned before the enamel begins.

step 2

Firing the Colors

Enameling begins with careful testing. Each dial has its own palette, sometimes with up to twenty shades, and every enamel is tested on silver and gold to ensure stability and compatibility.

Once the palette is approved, the powders are applied within the gold partitions and fired between five and eight times at around 800 °C.

Each firing lasts only seconds and demands perfect control of temperature and timing to avoid deformation or color shifts. It is a process of experience and precision, where nothing is left to chance.

step 3

Revealing the Shine

Polishing brings enamel, silver, and gold to a single, even surface. The work progresses through several stages of fine abrasives, removing the smallest imperfections and achieving a glasslike clarity.

This process, refined over years of experimentation, also ensures that every dial reaches its exact final thickness, measured to a hundredth of a millimeter.

Each phase is carefully checked, as too much pressure or a single mistake can fracture the enamel and require starting over entirely.

step 4

Framing the Creation

This stage marks the first encounter between the enamel dial and the watch components. The dial is positioned with extreme precision to align perfectly with the movement and case.

Our assembly method, developed in Switzerland, ensures that the dial remains mechanically independent from the case and crystal.

In the event of shock, this freedom prevents any stress from reaching the enamel, preserving it from damage. This protective architecture allows the dial to endure unchanged through time, keeping its beauty intact for generations.

step 5

Setting Time in Motion

This final stage unites every horological component designed and produced within Switzerland.

Each part is developed by Deguiret and crafted within a fifty-kilometer radius of our atelier in Neuchâtel, in collaboration with skilled manufacturers and watchmakers from La Chaux-de-Fonds and the surrounding region.

The assembly and regulation of the movement are performed by experts who ensure absolute precision and reliability. Every watch then undergoes full testing in Switzerland, including water-resistance and accuracy checks, before it is ready to leave our hands.

Custom pieces

Every custom piece begins with a dialogue. Together we imagine and create a watch that reflects a story, a feeling, or a moment made timeless through enamel and precision.
